I am conducting a presentation at this years Annual American Public Health Association meeting in San Diego California. At this years meeting I will be doing a presentation on “A Native Perspective; Critical Reflections and Aspirations in the year 1848.” I am doing this presentation on behalf of the APHA American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian Caucus. In light of this, I want to collect as much historical information, significant events, from a Tribal perspective that occurred in the year 1848. I am very familiar with the history of the Iroquois Nations but not so much with other Tribal histories and perspectives. So I would deeply appreciate your assistance with my presentation. Please forward any and all historical events that occurred, from a native perspective in the year 1848, to my attention. I really want to concentrate on the many other significant events that American historians have ignored. You can send your responses to my email, zkg8 AT cdc DOT gov Thanks! Please feel free to circulate this email. Sincerely, Dean S. Seneca
